Best Film Posters of 2014

Its a challenge to put together a movie poster. It has to capture someone's imagination and intrigue almost immediately without giving away to much. Its a delicate balance.

Fubiz put together a list of the best posters of 2014. I like this because it also serves as a list of things to watch that I otherwise forgot about.

Inge Druckrey - Teaching to See

And now for something very few will watch the entire way through. Chris' topic of design and typography reminded me of this piece that Chad had shared with me a while ago. If in a design-centric mood, take a watch of this.

Visually, the documentary isn't the sexiest thing on the internet but it gets that job done; I lost myself in it once in a while. Also, I'm noticing the use of classical music is a great "public domain" soundtrack for just about anything. It reminded me of one of my favorite posts.

Font Men

Really love this short piece from dress code about the work and process of artists Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones.  Fonts are one of those ultra-specific forms of art that most people probably don't stop to think about, but when you break down fonts and the reasoning behind them, you open up a whole world of interesting problems and solutions. I also really love the animation they have sprinkled throughout. I can't think of a better way to illustrate the subtle differences between a single font type.

Philipp Igumnov

I normally don't post this many examples, but as I scrolled through Philipp Igumnov's Flickr page I couldn't help but pull out more and more works, and yet there is still so much to see. I love his combination of vintage design and humor. Sometimes his work is very blunt and funny while other times it's more subdued and provocative. Any way you slice it this is some entertaining work.
