Inge Druckrey - Teaching to See

And now for something very few will watch the entire way through. Chris' topic of design and typography reminded me of this piece that Chad had shared with me a while ago. If in a design-centric mood, take a watch of this.

Visually, the documentary isn't the sexiest thing on the internet but it gets that job done; I lost myself in it once in a while. Also, I'm noticing the use of classical music is a great "public domain" soundtrack for just about anything. It reminded me of one of my favorite posts.

This goes out to anyone who's ever taken an art history class... and lovers of a good fart joke.

Audi - Painting Coconuts

The mix of hand-built and digital here is pretty cool. I have always wanted to make some sort of giant model like this. I still think if we start now we could make one for our 2013 holiday card.

Love Letter to Plywood. By Tom Sachs

Directed by Van Neistat, I thought this was fun, intense, but fun. I checked out some of the other videos too. The rigid standards of Tom Sach's studio are cool but limiting. Then again, I guess it's like any other brand standard or guidelines.

There's something in the instructional quality of the video too. Perhaps we could apply this to some of our work in the future. Minus the quick flash of boobs around the 5.5 min mark of course...

Pineapple Press & Design

At long last, the Pineapple Press mini doc is officially done. I struggled for a long time trying to make really different from the rest of the vimeo-like mini docs out there. But at the end of the day, I'm really pleased with the shots that Dave and I got; even if it is in the same vein as all the others.

2012 Vimeo Awards - Captured

I still haven't bothered to decipher what the categories actually mean. This one is a lot fun but, in my honest opinion, goes a little long.

Yasuaki Onishi: reverse of volume (RG)

I've had a small affinity for huge art installations since my first trip to Chicago in 2009 when I saw Olafur Eliasson's "Take Your Time". There's something about these other-worlds that are really cool and I've always wanted to try to incorporate them somehow into a scene somehow... This was recommended viewing from Sven...

Theo Jansen

I present to you, Theo Jansen. This guy builds gigantic sculptures that walk and make sound using wind power. This clip is also neat because the guys shot it using a segway steadicam.

NOWNESS: Double Feature

If you need another website to suck up your time, here's NOWNESS. And I found two really cool things; one just today and the other I found a while ago.

First, a short stop-motion film by Spike Jonze.

And secondly, for the Buckminster Fuller fans.

J. Todd Anderson & The Coen Brothers

J. Todd Anderson is an Ohio native that has been behind a lot of the Coen brothers' storyboard since Fargo. Chris' post about the creative director of Buck and his statement about the importance of story boarding made me think of this article.

Josh Keyes

I remember seeing this artist, Josh Keyes, a while ago. The platforms kind of remind me of the bases that D&D minis have.

IDEE visual search

I'm a fan of IDEE's visual search labs. Especially their multicolr lab. All of the images that show up in Multicolr fall under Creative Commons licensing.

PressPausePlay

A really nice documentary the poses the question "does democratized culture mean better art or is true talent instead drowned out?"
