On one of the
podcasts that I listen to regularly, they were talking about the user interfaces in science fiction films and discovered that the future is mostly blue. One of the reasons blue could be a dominant color in the future is because it does not occur in nature very often; it's an "unnatural" color.
This is their empirical data taken from screenshots of user interfaces in sci-fi films over the last four decades. The red 1991 sample is thanks to Terminator.
