To This Day
This is long, but very powerful. There are probably no less than 25 really great animations all in different styles mashed together seamlessly in this piece. Wow.

Paperman Wins Best Animated Short
Dave posted Paperman a little while ago. I enjoyed watching it and I'm glad that it won in its category. Here is the video again, and the making of.
PS4 Announcement - Abridged Version
After hearing you guys talking about the HGI conference this morning, I really want you to put something together similar to this.

JJ Abrams and Gabe Newell (from Valve) talk storytelling
I haven't had time to watch this yet, but it has Gabe from Valve which is arguably one of the masters of storytelling in video games; talking to some movie guy that makes movies that start with "Star-" so it's got to be worth a watch.
Creative Mornings - Nick Cambell
Here's the story about how Nick went from Digital Kitchen to where he is today. I think it hits on what inspires me most about him, his desire to get out and do his own thing and his own work, and then the drive to make that happen for himself.

Les Miserables?
I was surprised by the cinematography in this. It's a simple idea that is well executed.

INFLUENCERS
As I'm writing, I think I'd be interested to see/hear more about the evolution of influence (like the graphic at 00:7:30).

Sebas & Clim: TI Sparkle
Sebas & Clim were recently asked by The Brand Shop to translate conceptually the idea of their client. The brief was to make 4 short animations to communicate 4 different strong points of Sparkle, a telecom italia devision, in a really emotional way without beeing tough and dull. They wanted something which wouldn't be seen in the telecommunication's internal business world.
That was their task and I think Sebas & Clim crushed this one out of the park. I know from experience that it can be really, really difficult to explain different business ideas in a new and unique way without losing your audience or becoming too ambiguous. These animations do such a simple job of exploring ideas about clients and communication without once defining the client or diving too deep into the weeds. The result is a fun and emotional piece that I believe someone of any age or education could understand and enjoy. I would really like to explore this abstract style of communication in my own work to come. The difficulty in pulling something like this off is having a client who is willing to go the distance, take a risk, and not cram too much content into their message.

The Cause - Gabe Newell
Saw this and it sort of reminded me of the stuff we're doing with The Cause. Gabe Newell started Valve in 1996. Since then they've created some of the most talked about video games in the industry and created Steam, which is an online services platform that has around 55 million users and generates more bandwidth than most countries. Valve has been growing 50% each year and if I were to sum up Gabe's "purpose" in this talk, I would say it's to create the most production and value from users and employees possible. He even goes on to say their production per employee is much higher than that of both Apple and Google. His stance on a flat business model (no managers) and the way he's allowing users to help generate content on Steam are some of the more interesting points I took from this talk. I think if we're talking about bad asses like Steve Jobs we can at least find some different examples people may not know of.
