Nick Ballon - The Virtue of Wrestling

The poetic photography of Nick Ballon in his latest series The Virtue of Wrestling harkens back to a simpler time when wrestlers were viewed more like superheroes and less like 'roided out pre-madonnas.      Through amazing attention to detail, color, and composition, Ballon puts a delicate painter's touch to this otherwise brutal sport. My only problem is I want about triple the amount of photos he has in this project.

  1. Love how the background is just vacuous black. The subtle detail of that giant belly far to the left is great as his opponent flies. in fact the big guy's face is never shown making him even more menacing. Just a hairy cheek with red hair - the deadly of all facial hair chroma.
