The Flavor Savers - Roller Girls

This is a music video I directed and shot last summer for mustached electronic pop sensations The Flavor Savers. I am posting this piece unseen.

Ginger Beer

Reminded me of Dave.

Kilian Martin: Altered Route

I love the use of archive footage mixed with some seriously good editing and cinematography. Nice sound work as well. Lifts the "skateboard video" above its genre.

Fun Fact: I can't skate.

Goal Celebrations FX

Found this pretty entertaining.

The Wedding of Joseph Koelsch & Emily Walker

Feel free to check out the video I made from this past weekend down in Memphis for my brother's wedding. Recorded the audio of Two Weeks Notis live on Beale Street.

The Search

Josh and I helped film a scene of The Search. A film my old film partner and tattoo artist Brian 'Monk' Taylor is working on. The scene was a serial killer kidnapping a homeless women, interrogation, drugging her, then examining her brain.

NOWhaus 2012

Inspired by The Institute of Design's history as the New Bauhaus, NOWhaus was an evening of unconventional six-minute presentations by current ID students in the company of alumni and friends in the design community held at Public Works in Chicago on April 5, 2012. The evening was designed, organized, and curated by current ID students. I spoke about the importance of emotionally engaging employees in strategy.

Techincolor CineStyle - Canon 7D

Trying out the CineStyle picture style from Technicolor for Canon EOS DSLRs. Both camera setting are identical, save for the picture style of course. I dig the dynamic range; the only thing I notice was the increase in noise... The music is a fun little diddy borrowed from an episode of Radiolab.

They employed a choir to audibly illustrate the rainbow and priase the mantis shrimp, an organism with nearly five times the color sensitive cones as that of humans... So I thought it was kind of apt... you know because of the whole color and dynamic range thing... maybe a little silly. Nevertheless, props to Radiolab.

CATOW S1E1

Here is the very first episode of CATOW. A show created by Ted Wahlberg, Chris Bailey, and myself. Chris Koelsch created all the backgrounds and animated absolutely everything. I headed up sound design. This episode is voiced by Josh Lightle and Aarón Alonso.

Story

Jess P. shared this with me and had to pass it along!  It's a very neat and unique way to think about retail environments.

Whoa...using levitating objects as digital controller

ZeroN - Levitated Interaction Element from Jinha Lee on Vimeo.

What if materials could defy gravity, so that we could leave them suspended in mid-air? ZeroN is a physical and digital interaction element that floats and moves in space by computer-controlled magnetic levitation.

Donovan Lost

Greetings From Las Vegas

The Ridebook - The Prohibition Tour

Brain, you'll probably dig this. And Dave too I suppose; after all you're making that cover band. I was trying too hard not to post any staff picks from Vimeo but they're all so good. I kinda like the out-of-the-can-look of the video (going back to our dynamic range conversations lately.) Here is some more info too.

The Shins: The Rifle's Spiral

A stunning compositional masterpiece from Jamie Caliri and his team for The Shins new track, The Rifle's Spiral. They shot this with a Canon 7D, 5D, and 60D and used Dragonframe to help with the animation. For moving shots they used a rig called the Volo by ARC Motion Control.

Honda: Go Everywhere - Ned Wenlock

First is this Honda Ad. I saw a piece a while back that was probably from the same people that was just a personal project. It's pretty cool that they scored with Honda to bring it to life again.

Second, check out this dude who did the sound. Talk about sound design, and something we could probably play around with and work on here. I know at least 3 Root people who can sing.

Bridges Media

Not sure if you guys have ever heard of Bridges Media based in Chicago, but for some reason I was included on an email string that had their information.  It looks like Upshot (one of Tracey Moss's partners) works with them.  Here's their website if you want to check out some of their videos.

Below is one of their videos I found on Vimeo and below are a couple on their website that are worth checking out:

100 years - scary similar to Speed of Change but maybe its the Morgan Freeman VO
VIP - I like the dramatization of this. Without giving it away you'd never guess what product it's for.
Bacon - I love the fun and light-heartedness of this.

The Complete Animade Lernz

All the Animade Lernz in one piece! I honestly think these are great quick references for animation.

HPS in 60 Seconds

I thought this piece from Breakfast of Champions was a fun little way to show how much a company does in just 60 seconds. Guess it just popped out because of our current tackling of the dreaded Root video.
