hitRECord

I caught wind of this project/production company created/directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It's called hitRECord and the best way I can describe it is this - you create content to upload to the site (music, photos, writing, video, etc.) and other users can take that content and use it, reshape it, or just like it. Ultimately, Levitt will take realized or finished projects and broadcast them on his television show (this is when the content creators get paid too). It made me think about some of my hurdles in the creative process - want to shoot or animate something but just don't have an idea? Check out someone else's script and film or illustrate it.

Don't Be Dumb

"Stuff You Should Know" is one of my favorite podcasts. Every week they simply talk about a single subject for about an hour. While Josh does not always sound like this, I can't stop laughing at the super dry delivery, the way he just keeps creeping all over the frame, and his inability to sit in a chair the same way twice.

Aaron Draplin Takes on a Logo Design Challenge

Dude really likes old school corporate design. Listening to his stream on conscious delivery I almost thought with was a comedy piece. But no, its real, and actual good advice.

Inside Out Trailer 2 UK - Official Disney Pixar | HD

This idea has so much potential for hilarity.  Also, I wonder if we could do a similar treatment to illustrate behaviors in people - a whole new way to show the old 'good to great' scenarios.

ACCELERATE: Be the Tortoise Not the Hare

There are a few things here that caught my attention. The first is the story - the writing, the read, pacing, inflection - all great.  The second is the edit - it appears to be a mix of new, archival, and stock footage - but it all works for me.  The third is the music and how well it is incorporated into the edit and the pacing, allowing the music to be the driving factor.  And finally, I personally think the message is a great one.

Best Film Posters of 2014

Its a challenge to put together a movie poster. It has to capture someone's imagination and intrigue almost immediately without giving away to much. Its a delicate balance.

Fubiz put together a list of the best posters of 2014. I like this because it also serves as a list of things to watch that I otherwise forgot about.
