The Future is Blue

On one of the podcasts that I listen to regularly, they were talking about the user interfaces in science fiction films and discovered that the future is mostly blue. One of the reasons blue could be a dominant color in the future is because it does not occur in nature very often; it's an "unnatural" color.

This is their empirical data taken from screenshots of user interfaces in sci-fi films over the last four decades. The red 1991 sample is thanks to Terminator.

  2. I'm honestly surprised there is not more red. Representing mars or something. Like in Total Recall. Get your ass to mars!

    1. It's very likely that Total Recall (1990) is that small red blip a year before Terminator.
