This is great. It reminds me of the film and video section in that "Press Pause Play" documentary.
The dichotomy is interesting, on the one hand the proliferation of digital camcorders (DSLRs especially) has given countless people the opportunity to explore their creativity through film making. While on the other hand, it's also made the ability to succeed or have you're voice heard arguably more difficult.
As far as look is concerned, I remember going to see "28 Days Later" and never knowing that all the shot of deserted London were shot on MiniDV using an XL1 until somebody had told me.
Recently, Kevin Smith on his podcast was talking about "Red State", shot on the RED, looks leaps and bounds better than "Clerks", shot on 18mm, ever did.
Ultimately, Scorsese,and everyone who participated in the last Zaccuto shoot out, is right. It's what you do with it...
